Credit for this innovative project for 2025 goes to Professor Matt Shea, University of Colorado Denver. Matt, the PCI Foundation's academic advisor, spent months developing a location-specific, creative and educational project that would be do-able within the 48 hour time limit given for Project Precast 2025.
The end goals were to elevate the student's understanding of precast and to offer a final design result that would hold the attention of hundreds of industry professionals at the final presentation.

Now in its 7th year, the momentum for Project Precast resulted in a record number of student applicants and a record number of universities applying. Professors of architecture, engineering and construction management encouraged their students to apply and supported the 36 students chosen to compete. Huge thanks to the professors who made this year another stellar and worthwhile event.
Matt's project brief was to incorporate the 5 senses, bring in a sense of place and offer multiple uses for a precast parking garage to replace a large surface lot at Indianapolis's Zoo complex.
The results were stunning, from the best of the best students across the USA majoring in architecture, construction management and engineering.
Photos are from the tour of the "hypothetical" site and the Indianapolis Zoo.
