The students in the fall Precast Studio at Clemson University this year worked in groups of three to achieve a goal. When the school decided to forego its in-person plans for an online only start to the school year, Michael Carlos Barrios Kleiss, the professor who teaches the class, decided to make some changes to how he usually covers the material. Instead of being more hands on, the students would have to work from home, but they would now work in small groups of three. And there would be three design projects, requiring them to move quickly.
The final project offered the students to work in conjunction with the New York office of Skidmore Owings and Merrill on a real project at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
