A Revolution In Teaching Precast To Future Industry Leaders - Coming to Philadelphia in May.

PCI Foundation Professors Conference 2024: Registration is now open for the PCI Foundation’s Professors Conference 2024 in Philadelphia which will be held May 28 – 31, 2024 in Philadelphia’s Center City.

Attendees should expect that what they will see, hear and experience will be its own revolution of sorts when university professors from across the United States meet to learn:

·         What is new and unique in precast studios across North America

·         A heightened interest from universities has increased grant applications over the past 3 years.  Attendees will also learn how to apply for a studio grant if they are first timers.

·         Enrollment in precast curriculum classes by undergraduate and graduate students in engineering, construction management and architecture has dramatically increased.

The 2024 Conference will be hosted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Stuart Weitzman School of Design’s Richard Garber, AIA.  This year’s conference has elements that will impact how attendees think of precast.  Professor Garber will bring to light the integration of emerging technologies, maturing technologies and adopting new design and materials strategies.

Professor Garber has just published a new book “Building Futures: Technology, Ecology and Architectural Practice” and will share his views of client needs, project complexity and collaboration between disciplines.   Garber holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Dwell magazine named him as one of 32 new faces of design, and showcased GRO's precast concrete housing prototype PREttyFAB.

Could you have a revolution without a dinner at the Museum of the American Revolution?  Housed in a precast building, the museum brings to life the American Revolution with sights, sounds and artifacts that will set the tone for an evening that will elevate precast in a whole new way.

The conference (previously termed a seminar) brings together university professors to network, learn new skills and meet with experts and leaders in the precast industry. More information is available on the Foundation’s website:  www.pci-foundation.org.
